Kungul was born from a deeply personal journey. When Erblina Shehu, a mother determined to help her son with his skin issues, started reading ingredient labels, she was shocked. Many products marketed as “clean” or “natural” were full of harmful chemicals. The more she researched, the more she realized how widespread greenwashing was, brands were hiding behind clever marketing while consumers, like her, unknowingly trusted them.
She shared her discoveries with her close friend, Dr. Entela Çeliku, a chemist with a PhD in natural product chemistry. Entela had always believed in certifications and trusted brands that claimed to be safe. But as they dug deeper together, they realized how much misinformation existed in the beauty and personal care industry.
Determined to bring real transparency and help others make truly informed choices, they combined Erblina’s personal journey and relentless research with Entela’s scientific expertise to create Kungul, a platform that empowers people to shop smarter, avoid harmful ingredients, and choose products that genuinely support their health.

Kungul Safety Score is a simple way to understand how safe a cosmetic product is scored from 0 to 10 with higher scores meaning safer choices.
We analyse ingredients using data from trusted sources like ECHA, NCBI, INCI Beauty, EWG, EU Cosmetics Regulation, FDA, and SCCS. Our team of chemists and toxicologists constantly reviews the latest research to ensure accuracy.
Each ingredient is classified into four risk levels based on potential health effects:
High Risk (Red): Includes known carcinogens, strong endocrine disruptors, and highly allergenic/toxic ingredients. These are best avoided.
Moderate Risk (Orange): Ingredients with some concerns, like mild irritants or preservatives with restrictions.
Low Risk (Yellow): Generally safe but may cause minor irritation for sensitive individuals.
Safe (Green): No known health risks, backed by strong scientific research.
We also flag ingredients with specific concerns like hormone disruption, allergens, and skin irritation, so you know exactly what you’re using.

Kungul was born from Erblina’s journey as a mother searching for safe products for her son, who has atopic skin. Shocked by how many “clean” labels hid harmful ingredients, she began researching and uncovered the widespread problem of greenwashing in personal care.
With a background in quality and project management, she combined her expertise with a passion for wellness and sustainability to create Kungul—a platform that empowers people to make safer, informed choices.
Erblina is also the founder of Soma Light Therapy, a unique experience that blends light and sound for deep relaxation. A spiritual soul and music lover, she believes true wellness means caring for both the body and mind. Through Kungul, she aims to make safe, conscious living accessible to everyone.
For Dr. Entela Çeliku, science and nature are inseparable. With a PhD in Natural Product Chemistry, she has dedicated her career to exploring both plant-based and microbial compounds, focusing on discovering new bioactive molecules with potential applications in health, skincare, and sustainability. As a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard University and a visiting researcher across Europe, she has collaborated with leading scientists, always driven by curiosity and a commitment to innovation.
Beyond the lab, Entela finds joy in gardening, cooking, and being surrounded by nature. Her deep connection to plants and their chemistry has earned her the nickname “the flower girl”, a reflection of both her spirit and her belief that nature still holds many untapped secrets.
